Apply the knowledge and skill gained in dental assistant training theory and skills lab. This 40-hour, individually- scheduled, externship provides you with the opportunity for a clinical experience in a dental office with a practicing dental assistant. The clinical coordinator arranges the site, dates, and times with you. Evening and weekend placements are unavailable. Placement may take up to three months. Completion of the class can take up to six months. Prerequisites: completion of Dental Assistant Training; healthcare provider BLS CPR, proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; and a negative TB skin test or chest x-ray. Are you a practicing dental assistant interested in sitting for the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Radiation Health and Safety Examination? Complete this course to gain the knowledge and skill needed to take dental radiographs including full-mouth and bitewing x-rays. A working knowledge of oral anatomy, infection control, and dental terminology required. Topics include the proper placement of dental x-rays and radiation health and safety. Skills lab practice included. All classes meet at Dental One, 3435 Box Hill Corporate Center Drive, Ste. E, Abingdon, MD 21009. Textbook required and available at College Store.
