Preschool Aide
(Part-time)

Starting Hourly Rate Range:  $8.44 - $9.70

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The preschool aide assists the classroom teacher in implementing activities and assignments that are designed to meet long-range learning objectives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting a classroom of approximately 20 students; using classroom learning centers to implement activities with children; maintaining a clean classroom environment that meets or exceeds OCC regulations by disinfecting toys, sweeping floors, wiping tables and chairs, wiping shelves and cubbies, and cleaning common areas as necessary; maintaining a safe classroom by directly supervising children throughout the classroom environment, encouraging positive behaviors, identifying potential hazards in the classroom, resolving conflicts within the classroom, and adhering to OCC regulations and HCC policies; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age, hold a high school diploma or GED, and complete a physical examination with a negative TB test.  One year experience working with pre-school children is preferred. 

Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 lbs.; participate in physical fitness activities including walking, running, jumping, dancing as well as organized games; and to stand for at least 45 minutes in both cold and hot weather extremes. 

The successful candidates must complete continuing education units as specified by the OCC on an annual basis.
