Starting Salary:  $8.76 per hour

ABOUT THE PROGRAM The Rites of Passage (ROP)  provides HCC students with one-on-one guidance and support; assistance with academic and career success; and opportunities to participate fully in culturally relevant events. While some of the program activities draw upon the African-American experience, this program is open to all students, regardless of ethnicity.

 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

The peer leader assists in recruiting student participants; refers student to College resources; assists in recommending, planning, and implementing ROP activities; assists with publicity for the program including social media; attends Student Government Association and Multicultural Student Association meetings, and performs other duties as assigned. 

Work schedule is up to 15 hours per week; flexible scheduling is required, including day, evening, and weekend hours to be determined by the supervisor.  Must be able to work in at least two-hour increments.

 

 REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

High school diploma or GED required.  Applicants must be current HCC students who have completed six college credits with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA*.  Excellent communication skills are required.  Experience with students of diverse backgrounds and/or prior involvement with ROP are preferred.

*Candidates will be required to sign a FERPA release permitting access to educational records to confirm required GPA. 

Any offer of employment at Harford Community College is contingent upon the results of a mandatory background screening.  Employees must submit within 30 days of hire official transcripts of all degrees earned.
