RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Manager for Dining Services assists the General Manager in the preparation, management,  and review of activities and operations associated with the College's dining services. 

The Assistant Manager assists in the planning and execution of catered functions and other events.  This includes communication with customers and vendors, menu planning, food preparation, set-up and clean-up of events, and the performance of all dining services activities related to executing successful functions and events; developing event staff schedules; and training and supervising event staff.  Other duties include performing administrative functions such as maintaining event budgets; balancing money; ordering food and maintaining inventory of food and supplies; communicating with internal and external customers and vendors; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

The successful candidate is required to obtain Alcohol Awareness certification within three months of employment; and ServSafe certification within one year of hire. 

This is an exempt, professional staff position reporting to the General Manager for Dining Services. 
 

REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma or GED and two to five years of experience, including extensive food preparation and service, preferably in the catering arena, are required.  Some community college or vocational education is preferred.  Proficiency in a Windows-based computer environment, including experience with MS Word and Excel, are also required.  Applicants must have flexibility in scheduling. 

Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to, experience planning menus and organizing catered events; experience managing and scheduling staff for daily assignments and for events; knowledge of inventory control and experience ordering food and supplies while working within a budget; the ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers at all levels of an organization; knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and administration of applicable health and safety procedures; experience preparing food; and knowledge of alcohol service.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
