RESPONSIBILITIES: The Clinical Placement Coordinator is responsible for arranging clinical experiences in a variety of settings which meet the educational requirements for HCC Nursing and Allied Health students, and matching the learning needs of students to agencies with appropriate learning experiences.  The coordinator collaborates with the division dean and course coordinators to determine clinical placement experience, and with clinical placement agencies to procure and maintain clinical placement sites. 

Duties include, but are not limited to, researching and recommending appropriate agencies for clinical assignments; reviews and complies written evaluations of clinical placements; assists in hiring, orientating, and evaluating clinical faculty; initiates contracts between the College and clinical agencies; organizes and maintains all student requirements for clinical facilities; and performs other duties as assigned by the dean. 

This position is a two-year, grant-supported position ending June 30, 2015; extension of assignment is dependent upon funding.  Work schedule is up to 20 hours per week, with schedule varying depending on the needs of the nursing program. 


A bachelor's degree in nursing and two years of medical surgical nursing clinical experience are required; a master's degree is preferred.  Applicants must be licensed or have the ability to be licensed in Maryland; understand the clinical practices of nursing and the educational experiences required of nursing students; have knowledge of the diverse organizational environments in which nursing students practice; have the ability to interpret learning experience needs of students and match them to clinical placement agencies; have the ability to work in a collaborative environment; and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
