Biography

Having earned a Master's degree in mathematics and statistics from Missouri University of Science and Technology, my teaching career began in 1988 at Michigan Technological University  (MTU). MTU is located in a small northern town called Houghton. It's on Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The place is absolutely gorgeous---situated on the serene shores of Lake Superior, it's a wonder of nature. Just so long as one enjoys snow, that is, expect around 300 inches per year!

I relocated to Maryland in 1992. I enjoy living in Maryland very much, mainly because I am close to two large cities, Baltimore and D.C. This is specifically appealing to me because of all the cultures featured, as well as the abundance of fine arts.

I joined HCC in 1995 as a full-time math professor. Some of my hobbies include working out, skiing, listening to music, hiking, playing golf, art museums, traveling, and most of all, I love to teach! Particularly, I love to teach mathematics. I have discovered over the years that there is a close relation between math, art, and beauty. I hope that at some point in your lives, you appreciate the beauty of mathematics as I do.

My philosophy on teaching is to create an environment conducive to learning for all of us. I need each student's help to facilitate this process. Please help me by sending comments and suggestions, either via email or in person, to improve our experience. And remember, the trick to success is to learn how to learn. I look forward to meeting each of you personally. Good luck.
